Julie HadlerScience Educator, Grades 9-12
Current Position: T. F. North High School, Calumet City, IL Previous Position: Schweinfurt High School, DoDDS-Germany Background
I am a high school (9-12) Science teacher in Calumet City, Illinois. Thornton Fractional North High School is a Title I school in the south suburbs of Chicago. Previously, I taught at a DoDDS military school, which is comprised of mostly army teenagers, in Schweinfurt, Germany. I have recently completed my Masters of Arts in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. I integrate technology as much as possible in my classroom, and also try to instill a passion for learning in my students.
Learning about education all over the world is one of my passions, and I served on the National Science Teachers Association's International Committee, which is committed to promoting quality science education throughout the world. I am interested in science teaching positions at the high school level. I am also interested in working in informal education such as museums, developing exhibits, giving presentations, and designing lessons for teachers to use the museum to its fullest educational potential. I am honored to have been chosen as a PBS Digital Innovator for the 2015-2016 school year. Through this program I will have the opportunity to engage with the other 99 innovators to implement PBS learning materials in the classroom, as well as integrating technology in the classroom. |
